  • I have to look into Bitwarden. That might be a way to replace password-store for me and have a self-hosted password manager solution for the family.

  • ‪TIL there is SNI for pop3, imap and smtp. But clients do not necessarily support it. ‬

  • Live substitution in neovim is pretty cool: Vimcasts: Live substitution and yank highlighting

  • ‪Monitoring: a cron job, which runs a script to let a command write something into a file and send it per mail. Because it is the fastest way to implement this as a quick fix. I bet some day it will be explained with “because of reasons” m) #sysadminslife‬

  • A bit of the pile of shame

This page is nearly completely part of my pile of shame. How many hours are this? 300, 400 or even more?

  • ‪Woohoo, I got a message from the university that I passed everything in Japanese Science and Economics and will get my certificate in 4 weeks \o/‬

  • Tools I won’t be using anymore: TT-RSS

I am using newsblur currently but often think about that I might switch back to a self-hosted solution. But the community seems to composed of assholes. So, no thanks.

See yourself: A category named gas chambers?

  • The repo for the game: dissent on github #rpg

  • For the thing I have in mind right now the working title probably changes from „Menschmaschinen“ to „Dissent“

  • Instead of doing more posts about a game on the blog, I think I will start soon-ish a github-repo where I write in public. Issues for feedback, pull requests for corrections ;) #rpg

  • And now: Mr. Robot

  • Isn’t it part of studying to get deep into a topic even outside of that what is in your curriculum? Get yourself knowledge in the topics you are studying and try to get knowledge beyond that? It is not school anymore, you should get beyond the script from the prof.

  • I am listening to a podcast about how the university economics programs changed after the financial crisis. And I am only thinking: yes, they taught me mainly the mainstream and that was already a lot. But the rest I did in my off-time with books and papers.

  • And what I definitely like better than in Samus Returns: run, shoot while running and continue running instead of run, stop wait, wait for the massive attack, counter it, shoot, run. And the Metroid-fights aren’t so cumbersome. #metroid2

  • Ok, Metroid 2 is better than I remember. Thanks @retronauts for bringing me back to the game.

  • Hm, xfs allocates disc space dynamically dependent on file size - then a 4GB-file can become an 8GB-file…yeah… www.fromdual.com

  • Btw. it was also very annoying when I wrote that macOS and Apple-hardware is awesome (quiet, fast, long battery life) and some F/OSS-zealot came and told me that Apple sucks and that their computers are way overpriced.

  • ‪Every time I say I don’t want to spend a ton of money on non-serviceable computers anymore, an Apple-zealot comes and tells me that F/OSS-systems suck and only power users can use them. It is so annoying.

  • She even thinks about using a Raspberry Pi because it might be sufficient ;)

  • When the MacBook Air dies, my wife will probably switch to Linux. We both don’t want to spend anymore more than 1500€ for a computer for our use cases.
