So, I created now two additional mastodon-accounts for their local timelines on other instances. On my main-account my TL is interesting, but the federated timeline is just too full of uninteresting stuff

Using now a org-mode in spacemacs for a week or two and I am quite happy with it. Using spacemacs for general editing doesn’t feels as comfortable as with vim in the console though so far. But I use vim now for years and spacemacs only for a rather short time.

Dear Company, please tell me who provided you my number. No one of them was authorized to give you this number and I’d like to sue them all. Best regards

“You provide us the phone numbers of XXXX users and your other contacts in your mobile phone address book on a regular basis. You confirm you are authorized to provide us such numbers to allow us to provide our Services.”

Guess the EULA and how should I be able to be authorized?

Wow, this t-shirt is already like 13 years old #tlug

The registry Raddix apparently automatically deactivates domains without notification when they land on the RBL SURBL and reactivates when your domain got removed. So, don’t register any domains which have their TLD administered by Raddix.

Bento. Yummy 😋

The internet doesn’t like that I host my own mail. First the domain of my mail-server got deactivated (it‘s running again after a week, yeah). Now the VM is down because there are backend-problems -.-

TIL: Rockman (Megaman) might have been named Rainbow Man because each weapon changed him to another color.

1Password became now LastPass with 1Password X?

My domain is now down for 5 days. In the future I know that I will have a look at the registry before registering a domain and I think to move the service provider where I register my domains. Their reaction times are far too slow…

My domain got deactivated

Apparently radix.website, the registry for the tld .space deactivated my domain because of a spam report. Now I really would like to know what happened. I have only one server which sends out mails and this server is not an open relay, has only a couple of users and each one with a unique and complex password. Thus I doubt they got phished. Other servers have mailing-software running but not exposed to the outside. And the mail-server is an OpenBSD-server that gets all the updates asap (it is already on 6.3 which got released yesterday). So I have no idea what happened there. And that they deactivated the whole domain because of the spam-report means for me that I will get rid of it and need to get something from a more sane registrar. Luckily I have a different domain for my servers than for my public stuff. Thus I could reconfigured the domain of my mail-server and was able to receive and send mail again. This all happened btw on the night from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday. So I only noticed it pretty late and get bad support times. In addition the Whois-entry still works and the delegated nameservers have the correct entries. My service provider wasn’t notified at all. So it was hard to figure out what happened to my domain.

A reminder: do backup your data. You never know what might happen.

30 minutes from setting the downtimes until both OpenBSD-servers were updated to 6.3 incl all packages. Nice. Only IPv6 does not work as expected. I have to look into that.

And yes, OpenBSD 6.3 got released :)

grep comes really from ed (g/re/p) but sed is the stream editor and is based on qed (quick editor) and ed.

The names of grep (g/re/p) and sed (s/ed) do not really come from ed, do they? Oo

I can recommend Michael W Lucas new book Ed Mastery. Once I had only /bin available and vi was in /use/bin. I wish I had read that book before. Ed is more useful than I thought.

Woohoo, mail works again :) (Even though my domain is not fixed yet… :/ )

Next years April Fools-joke: moving editors around and linking things like vi, vim, nano, emacs et al to ed on selected servers

I don’t know how and why but DNS is utterly broken for my domains. And it even doesn’t matter which dns-servers are responsible. One domain is on Cloudflare and adding a new subdomain doesn’t do anything :(

My domain isn’t resolving and it seems to happen at the registrars level…very big meh…

Each time I have to deal with iptables be it through “iptables” or “firewall-cmd” I really wish I would have pf available…
