When I am reading about the US-#ttrpg-scene I am always astonished how much DnD seems to dominate the whole market. My whole life I’ve never experienced that in Germany. Ok, The Dark Eye dominated for quite some time. But most of the time people played so many different games.

I tried out TextExpander. After thinking about it, I wouldn’t really use it on iOS where it wasn’t that great because auto-correction made it hard to type snippets on the first try. On the Mac I replaced the snippets with KeyboardMaestro-macros which work even better in the end.

So, alternate day fasting seems to be a viable dieting strategy for me. The fasting day is sometimes a bit annoying but when there is enough water available it is ok. And it is easier/more comfortable than doing calorie counting.

I am doing a meditation exercise which begins with that I shall think back about a time when I had to really laugh. I did that and moments later I just feel happy, smile from ear to ear and feel really good. You should try that, too 😀

I thin k I have an idea why in #Shadowrun 6 all Fake SINs have the same availability. Max gear rating on chargen is 6. If they did the standard rtg*2-thing, players could only get rtg 3-fake SINs. Well…house rule it is. Fake SINs get an availability of rtg+2 in my games.

One thing that I really don’t like in #Shadowrun 6, and don’t ask me why it is important to me because I don’t know it, is that fake SINs have all the same availability unlike in previous editions. So characters can start out with level 6-fake SINs. I wonder why this changed.

The #Shadowrun 6-test run went well. The rules are fine and work quite well. Combat is deadlier, Edge is neat. But people should definitely use tokens for their edge and might even need to use tokens for their minor actions. I have to say that I like it :)

I think I just solved the “Wireless bonus”-problem of gear in #Shadowrun for me which bothers me since 4th edition. The gear just gets this bonus and is not connected to the matrix. Most of the bonuses were in 1e-3e anyway part of the gear. This nerfs hackers a bit, but well…

I think the #Shadowrun 6-team should have far more publicly communicated their ideas (maybe some blog posts) behind the rule changes.

And the supposed nerfing of magic is probably a good thing. In the last editions one of the major criticisms was that magical characters are so much more powerful than the rest - especially in the long run. With the Transhumanism-rule from the Companion it gets even more leveled.

After listening to some podcasts #Shadowrun 6 doesn’t seem so bad anymore. I even can get behind the idea of the way armor works. Now you can have the cool looking characters without compromising your soak so much. Suddenly Shadowrunners do not all need to be the operative-type.

TIL: you can add the passwords of your ssh-keys to your Apple Keychain. And you can load all your keys into the ssh-agent that have saved passwords in the Keychain. With a small function (I use fish), you can load them on opening the first time your shell. But that part should be easily adaptable to any shell. So recently I had long discussions about Saltstack and Ansible. I like Salt, use it for years but realize the shortcomings when it comes to local development of states and formulas, especially when using gitfs. But some people try to convince me that Ansible is so much better because you can locally develop, its error messages are better and it is easier to write. Since I wanted to have an informed opinion, I started trying to use it.

Why is a recursive copy in Ansible so damn slow in comparison to SaltStack? And if I understand it correctly it won’t even detect changes. Only when using „with_filetree“ which makes it unusable slow. I copy less than 100 files locally.
